THEORIES OF PERSONALITIES

 Do you ever think why people have different personalities?

In this chapter we will tackle about the different theories of personalities which is the reason why we have a different or unique characteristics. But first we need to identify if what was the real meaning of personality?
  I have here a statement. Here, you will going to identify if what personality really means...

statement number 1:
"Personality is the dynamic organization within the individual of those psycho physical systems that determine his characteristics behavior and thought" (Allport, 1961, p. 28).

statement number 2:
The characteristics or blend of characteristics that make a person unique (Weinberg & Gould, 1999).

So what does you notice? ....

Both statements talk about UNIQUENESS. Merriam Webster Dictionary said that a personality is "the set of emotional qualities, ways of behaving, etc., that makes a person different from other people". Its just mean that personality refers to as a characteristics which make us unique.

Now that we already know the meaning of personality, we will go and explore further why we differ from one another, and why we have this personalities!
There are five theories of personalities;

1.BIOLOGICAL THEORIES. This approaches suggest that the genetics are responsible for personality. Heritability suggests that there is a link between genetics and personality traits. For example, a shy person has a high cortical arousal leading them to avoid stimulation. On the other hand, a person which is extrovert specially those persons which have talkative personality have a low cortical arousal causing them to seek out stimulating experience.

2.BEHAVIORAL THEORIES. This theory suggest that personality is a result of interaction between the individual and its environment.

3.PSYCHODYNAMIC THEORY. This theory emphasize the influence of unconscious mind and childhood experiences on personality. Sigmund Freud heavily influenced this theory. According to him, the three components of personality were the id(responsible for all needs and argues), the Ego(moderates between the demand of the id, superego and reality) and the superego(for ideals and demands).

4.HUMANIST THEORY. This theory influenced the free will and individual experiences in the development of personality. It emphasized the concept of self-actualization which is an innate need for personal growth that motivate behavior.

5.TRAIT THEORY. According to this theory, personality is made up of a number of broad traits. A trait is basically a relative stable characteristics that causes an individual to behave in certain ways.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION
 "As we grow, we develop our personality. If we choose to be a good or a bad individual. Some people's behavior is being influenced by the environment. For example, you have a circle of friends who are addicted to the prohibited drugs. You yourself have the possibility that you might adapt their behavior and that behavior became your personality.

In my case, I choose to be a person who live in a simple way. Therefore I can say that I have a personality of simplicity.
